Solid Waste
Peach County contracts with Waste Management to pick-up household trash. Trash collection service may be started or reinstated by contacting the Public Works Department at 478-825-8717. Trash collection policies are defined within the contract with Waste Management.
The trash fee is outlined on the yearly property tax bill and the cost is set by the Board of Commissioners. Owners of vacant properties may appeal the fee. Contact the Peach County Tax Commissioner’s office for more information on the appeal process by calling 478-825-3161.
Household Trash
Household trash is collected Monday through Friday. Each residence will have its normal trash picked up once a week. The day on which this occurs varies based on the location of the property. In order to ensure the trash is collected, all residents should have their containers placed by the curb no later than 6 a.m. on the day of their scheduled pick-up. Containers should be placed within two feet of the road edge, with the wheels facing toward the house on the opposite side of the driveway from the mailbox, and at least four feet from poles, lamp posts, vehicles, or other obstructions.
Yard Waste/Bulk Item Service
Yard Waste and Bulk Item Pickup has moved in-house to Peach County Public Works. As part of this change, all Yard Waste and Bulk Item Pickup is moving from a route concept to a scheduling concept. To schedule a pickup, contact Public Works at: 478-825-8717.
Each household is limited to 2 pickups per MONTH. We are currently working to clear any backlog of Yard Waste items. Please see the Solid Waste Brochure for additional details.
Please refrain from placing any yard waste or bulk items in a drainage ditch. Placing anything other than stormwater in a drainage ditch is in violation of Georgia law and the Federal Clean Water Act.
Yard Waste Collection Policies
Items should be placed 4 feet from the edge of the road and at least 4 feet from poles, mail boxes, lamp posts and other obstructions. Limbs cannot exceed 4 feet in length and 6" in diameter. No single piece of Yard Waste can weigh more than 40 lbs. Small Yard Waste items such as leaves and grass must be bagged. Total Yard Waste is limited to 4 cubic yards (about 2 trash can loads).
Bulk Items
Only one bulk item will be picked up per month from each residence. These items include large waste items such as stoves, washing machines, mattresses and furniture but not waste that is classified as construction material.
Non-Compliant Materials
Non-compliant materials include any materials that are considered construction debris including but not limited to: carpet, lumber, plywood, roofing materials, drywall, cabinets, sinks, toilets, etc.
Non-compliant trash next to our road ways presents possible safety hazards. Having these materials next to the road is a violation of Peach County Littering Ordinance.
